Hmmmmmmm
What can I say about this special?
….
It’s…
…. A cocktease.
Pretty much that is what it was. Nothing was accomplished in this special under than fleshing out what JOKER was and giving the whole deal more body. It’s basically a pretty looking recap episode with 60% of the episode merely recapping every episode of the series, putting emphasis on how Joker isn’t an act of revenge but seeking punishment for the unpunished and how it affects the families of the missing as well as the families of the victims. You’re not left with anything else that continues the storyline beyond what was established in the finale.
You do get to see what happened to everyone after the events with Mikami, but that’s all. While we did get a resolve for Kudo and Asuka, the show also written her off subliminally with a montage before ending with Date, Kudo, and Chief Itsuzu checking out a disk that Kudo managed to find while emptying out Saeko’s apartment with Asuka. Now that she is possibly gone, if a second season was to happen, what can they work with that’d be interesting? It also seemed Asuka became more accepting of Joker in the bygone months than previously seeing how she’s comfortable around Kudo again.
Hun.
Well, you don’t need to see this special. It neither makes or breaks Joker’s finale, only being a recap special with some additional footage of the characters explaining themselves and Joker. If you want to see it, go ahead, but I wouldn’t want to waste an hour of my time again watching something already watched.
