The answers are revealed as Masamune tries to struggle with the changes happening in his life, physically and emotionally.
This is what I get for missing episode 3. A lot of things happened when would have helped in understanding what was going on this episode. Like, how did Masamune’s sister, Kanako, end up with the stuck in 1993 hacker? What is really going on between Hiro and his sociopathic other half, Kouta? Well, either way, things have definitely gotten better to the point that I don’t feel like I have to jump ship now. If this summary sounds weird, its probably because I forgot some things that happened or mixed them up.
In this episode, Masamune doesn’t understand why he goes into a bloodlust rage whenever he comes in contact with certain individuals nor does he understand why people are coming after him now. When he’s with his girlfriend-not-so-girlfriend, Marika, they realize that they maybe in love with each other. Going in for the kiss, Masamune goes into bloodlust mode and pushes her away aggressively. Confused and hurt, Marika runs away but to only be confronted by Hiro who laments that he is the one for her, but she pushes him away and runs.
With his father in the hospital, he questions if he’s really alive and his father says, ” Of course you are. You’re here, right? “. On the sidelines, Kanako meets with the hacker stuck in 93′, Shoutarou, to deliver some information in regards to the mysterious murders and in return receive some information about her strange science teacher. Hiro confronts Kouta at an abanoned school to warn him about his actions, but Kouta threatens to kill him if he interferes again. As Shoutarou gets closer to the truth, Kouta appears to kill him and Kanako calls Masamune to let him know the person appeared again.
After taunting and torturing Shoutarou, Kouta goes for the kill but is stopped in time when Hiro arrives. Kouta leaves after he notices neighborhood patrol officers walking nearby and Masamune confronts Hiro again — to only find out the truth that they’re all clones. Shoutarou, Hiro, Marika… and even Masamune.
Masamune isn’t as annoying anymore and it seems like he’s growing some balls. Hiro is Hiro and we have all these side characters revolving around each other. While the character relationships are haphazard at best, the story is getting better in terms of the whole “mystery” behind the clones. Why are they clones and why do they exist? Is the ‘fight to be the one’ a flaw in the cloning process? Who is the original? Why are Kouta and Hiro the only knows that know they’re clones and how come they’re the only ones that seem to be able to manipulate ‘the game’?
