As Masamune continues to dig deeper into the mystery of the clones, he begins notice a connection between the sudden bloodlusts and the clones. On the other hand, Hiro distances himself from everyone else as he tries to cope with the fact that his childhood friend, Kouta, has died with his hands. The story thickens as our young heroes, and anti-heroes, unravel the mysteries behind their existence.
Quick summary, missing details.
Episode 6 opens up with Masamune confirming that the dead body is in fact Kouta, the lead suspect in the ‘Tanabata Murders’ case. With the prime suspect identified to be dead, even if his body was mutilated and found in the harbor, the police begin to feel like the case is coming to close. Masamune, still wanting to know more about the clones finds out through his sister that her science teacher is extremely knowledgeable about clones. Later, he breaks up with Marika in fear of hurting her again because he doesn’t understand why whenever he touches her he has a sudden urge to kill her.
Marika, distraught, goes to a park where she ironically meets Hiro. The two exchange words about losing someone dear to each other in the rain. Meanwhile, Higuchi is kidnapped at the police station, Masamune, his sister, and the genius hacker stuck in 1993 go out in search of her. Once they find her, they save her life and more questions about the clones are answered. Masamune decides to team up with Higuchi and use her knowledge to his advantage. Hiro confronts a man in a trench coat about Kouta’s death, while, at home, Marika realizes that she herself isn’t who her brother says she is and after breaking down over the reality, she collapses in pain much to her brother’s horror.
Clone Baby is picking up and going at a speed that if you don’t hold on tight you’re gonna fall off and get lost. This episode had way too much going on between Higuchi, Marika, Hiro, Masamune, and the scientists that it was comforting to finally see it all tied together at the end. But it was still daunting at times to watch it flicker through scenes every five minutes.
I do like that we’re seeing a human side to Hiro who’s now starting to question everything around him as much as his counterpart and opposite, Masamune and its also interesting to see Masamune finally growing a back bone and handling things on his own even though he’ll spend a good amount of time sulking in the rain. I like to see character growth and I’m glad Clone Baby is delivering it. I just don’t know what they’re planning to do with The Fresh Prince of Akihabara and the sister – Are they setting them up as a couple or is this just a quid pro quo thing? I’m not complaining though, its quite cute — but very awkward — set up and adds a little light comedy to an otherwise very depressing show.
And is it me or is the sis also in Kamen Rider OOOntz?
Anyway, here’s for ep 7. We’re almost to the end!
