Seiji likes his new position in life at his job and decides to stay as he learns to show more appreciation for his mother and reevaluates his own goals in life. After failing to reach out to his father, Seiji assumes all responsibility for his mother and promises to buy a house of his own.
Man, this episode was booooooooooring.
Seiji’s conflicts are now with his father as the two fail to connect. While I can understand where the breakdown in communication is stemming from, the fact that the father isn’t being held responsible by his two children only further add frustration to me watching. Its a difficult situation when the parent becomes dependent on the child but someone should be more on top of daddy dearest; especially since he’s having an affair behind his sick wife’s back with a girl half his age.
The love stories in this drama is going to be interesting, especially with how odd Karina and Nino look together. I really don’t want the show to explore the relationship, even though Nino’s been going after this girl since ep 1, I just want the show to focus on Seiji and his family. I think romance is probably the least important thing to worry about when his father is being irresponsible and his mother is being bullied and her mental condition is worsening.
Maru’s character seems to only go as deep as what this episode has shown us. He’s a happy go lucky construction worker madly in love with the secretary who refuses to acknowledge him because he’s not a rich salaryman. I don’t see a friendship brewing between the two characters and I really don’t have any hopes of one developing between them now. Nino has his eyes Karina and Maru is about as important as the rest of the supporting cast.
This one episode was a slow one but I can’t completely write the show off yet. There’s still many issues Seiji needs to overcome, like buying a house, and I’m interested in watching how he does it.
