Once Seiji finds out that his father has been spending evenings away from home at another woman’s apartment, he begins to suspect that his father might be having an affair behind the family’s back. Meanwhile, Teppei tries to get Akari to finally accept his feelings for her.

This guy has a lot of determination, I say that. Or just too dumb to know what no means.

Seiji follows his father one night to discover that he’s been spending time with a much younger woman. Angered, he assumes that his father is having an affair with the the woman and kicks his father out the apartment. His father leaves without a word and Seiji lets his sister know what has happened. While, at work, Teppei tries unsuccessfully to get Akari to finally notice him and acknowledge his feels for her. Every day at the end of work he asks her out to dinner and she always manages to find a way to get out of it. Manami, on the other hand, is stuck to deal with her lingering feelings for her co-worker, who, after confessing, turns her down.

Seiji and his sister go to confront the woman whom their father spends time with and supports at her apartment. They soon find out that the relationship the two share isn’t sexual or romantic at all, and once their father shows up, they soon discover that their father spends that much time with the girl because she’s the only one who gives him self worth. His relationship with his children is crumbling, his wife is ill, and he’s been replaced by computers and more tech savy employees at his job — This girl is the only one who actually made him feel like he was worth anything.

Seiji, now knowing the truth, lets his father back home just in time for his mother’s return from the hospital. Though, at work, after Akari accepts his offer to a date, Teppei has an unfortunate accident that sends him straight to the hospital.

This episode finally humanized him. Thank god.

I wish I had an opinion on this episode but I don’t. Basically everything I said in episode 5 applies to episode 6. Its good that Take’s relationship with the girl was nothing more than platonic and its good that Seiji finally admits that his family has a severe problem with expressing their true emotions. Its basically what I had figured out all along, this family rather take their pride over their own emotions. So they’ll bite the bullet, save face, and try to make it through another day.

I still don’t know what to think about Teppei and Akari’s new founded relationship. I’m totally a sucker for romance and star crossed lovers, but I really don’t like how this relationship came to be at all. But, whatever, its done. I just gotta deal with watching it.

Freeter is almost over and I’m trying to figure out where they’re going with this story. Is it about Seiji and his mother or is it just about Seiji dealing with the people around him or what’s the message to be had here with Seiji? Now that Manami’s been turned down, does this give Seiji and opening to swoon the beautiful surveyor off of her feet? Will his sister finally triumph over her in-laws? I don’t know…

… and what’s going on with this house he wants to buy?

Yeaaaah
